Beon Ear Thermometer

An ear thermometer reads the infrared heat from the eardrum and gives a result in seconds, which is why it has largely replaced the glass thermometer at home. Speed is the whole advantage. A reading taken before a child fully wakes is worth more than an accurate method they will not sit still for.

Technique affects the reading more than most people realise. Pull the ear gently up and back to straighten the canal, insert to the depth shown in the manual, and take the reading from the same ear each time. Lying on one side warms that ear, so results can differ between them.
