Choosing an absorbency

Absorbency runs from light through regular, super and super plus. The guidance is simple enough: use the lowest absorbency that handles your flow, and change it every four to eight hours. Most people end up using a lower absorbency on quieter days and stepping up around the heaviest ones.

Never leave one in for longer than eight hours, and avoid using a higher absorbency than you actually need. Both habits keep the already small risk of toxic shock syndrome as low as possible. Wash your hands before and after, and keep a pad or liner as an overnight backup if that feels more comfortable.
