Everyday baby grooming

Baby cotton buds are built with a thicker stem and a wider tip than the adult version. The shape is deliberate. It stops the bud travelling into the ear canal, which matters because the standard advice is to clean the outer ear only and never to poke anything inside it.

Extra thin stem versions handle the narrower jobs instead, such as the folds around the nose, the corners of the eyes and the area around the belly button stump in the first weeks. Keep separate packs for different jobs and store them somewhere dry.

No. Clean the outer ear only, using a soft cloth or bud. Pushing anything into the ear canal risks damage and tends to push wax further in.
